The Flight Operations Manager is responsible for the operations control center, which is at the heart of the company's Part 135 flight operations. This position requires in-depth knowledge of flight dispatch operations, excellent communications skills to interact with pilots, dispatch and other team members. The candidate must also be creative in problem solving while maximizing fleet operations.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1.  Manager is assigned operational control responsibility.
  2. Interview, hire, and oversee training for company Flight Coordinators.
  3. Manage the company's computerized flight releasing system and dispatching team.
  4. Scheduling flights including crewing and coordination with ground service support.
  5. Generates flight releases and issues them to crewmembers.
  6. Flight following via IFR/VFR flight plans.
  7. Entering post flight information into system for tracking purposes.
  8. Coordinating ground handling, overflight permits, and customs for international flights to destinations outside the US.
  9. Coordinating customs and immigration for international flights inbound to the US from abroad.
  10. Coordinating International flights outside the continental US.
  11. Coordinating with the Chief Pilot and Training Manager regarding crewmember qualifications, training currency and scheduling.
  12. Coordinating with the Director of Maintenance regarding aircraft airworthiness status and maintenance scheduling.
  13. Certifies the completion of training for Flight Coordinators and recommends their upgrade status to the Director of Operations.
  14. May delegate functions to other personnel but retains responsibility. 
  15. Company AOSC for TFSSP.
  16. Maintain FAA required MCL and OE documents

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Director of Operations.

 

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional environment, which may include exposure to all types of weather conditions and direct contact with both moving and non-moving aircraft.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, to include but not limited to:

  1. Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  2. Possible exposure to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is an exempt position.  

This position requires working evenings and weekends as needed, and on scheduled company holidays. Requires availability 24/7 to resolve any issues encountered by flight coordinating team.

 

Travel

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

 

Education, Experience, and Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Experience in the service, aviation or hospitality industry required
  2. Knowledge and experience with FAA regulations
  3. General aviation knowledge with regard to personal and corporate aircraft. Experience with CTA/FOS program preferred
  4. Knowledge and experience with US customs entry/exit procedures as well as international handling preferred.
  5. 2 years' experience in flight management/charter operations
  6. High School Diploma required, prefer some college and/or bachelor's degree in aviation or related field.

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. FAA Dispatchers license preferred
  2. Acceptable driving record
  3. Ability to pass background check
  4. Zero tolerance drug-free company
  5. Experience with Rockwell Collins FOS
