A & P Mechanic-Mobile Road Unit (MRU)

Objective

The A&P Mechanic is responsible for performing all facets of maintenance and repairs to aircraft by ensuring all aircraft is airworthy and that all technical aspects of the plane are documented properly. The A&P Mechanic is responsible for researching, interpreting, and applying technical data to the task at hand.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Efficient performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, small repairs, troubleshooting and line maintenance on a variety of mid-sized jet, turbo jets, and propeller driven aircraft.
  2. Work in team environment under a Repair Station to the highest FAA standards.
  3. Annual Re-Current Training as required
  4. Performs various diagnostic and mechanical duties on one or more aircraft models involving diagnosis of malfunctions and required disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, reassembly, or adjustment of various aircraft systems to prepare aircraft mechanically for return to service
  5. Monitors the work environment to assure it is maintained in a safe and orderly condition. Identifies and corrects unsafe acts.
  6. Responsible for communicating safety expectations of MAATs.
  7. Requires thorough knowledge of aircraft engines, mechanical systems, and components on all assigned aircraft.
  8. Checks, corrects, or replaces a variety of complex aircraft assemblies, landing gear systems, air conditioner system, pressurization system, and optional equipment installs.
  9. Orders and obtains parts as necessary to complete aircraft repairs.
  10. Assures that cores are returned in accordance with established parts procedures.
  11. Requires knowledge of inspection procedures set forth in FAR Part 145.
  12. Responsible for insuring documentation procedures are accomplished as required in FAR 43 and all other applicable FARs.
  13. May be required to observe operation of mechanical systems during flight and troubleshoot problems for in-shop repairs.
  14. Responsible for accurate written reports in logs, inspection reports, and in parts identification for issue and return documents.

Competencies

  1. Must possess 5-10 years' experience in corporate aviation as an A&P mechanic.
  2. Customer focus-naturally outgoing/extroverted
  3. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and be insurable by our insurance company (Requires clean driving record)
  4. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Products
  5. Basic mathematical knowledge
  6. Bi-linqual plus

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Director of Maintenance.


Work Environment

This position works inside a hangar and outside in all types of weather conditions and direct contact with both moving and non-moving aircraft. This position may be exposed to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, to include but not limited to:

  1. Communicate with customers and employees in person, on phone, and through radio communications
  2. Position requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
  3. Good physical condition, frequent lifting, carrying weight up to 35 pounds, and occasional pushing/pulling weights up to 100 pounds.
  4. Possible exposure to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery
  5. Outside work in all types of weather conditions.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a non-exempt position. This position includes shift work which requires working evenings and weekends, and on scheduled company holidays.


Travel

No travel is expected for this position.


Required Education and Experience

  1. A & P Mechanic certification
  2. Prior aircraft ground handling experience
  3. High School Diploma

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  2. Acceptable driving record
  3. Ability to pass a background check
  4. Participate in DOT drug and alcohol screening program
